Participation Foundations as a REC Model with public participation
Renewable Energy Communities are taking up an increasingly central role in the process of ecological transition and sustainable development, with a number of public and private actors coming together for the purpose of producing, trading and consuming energy from renewable sources on a local scale.
The choice of legal form is made on a case-by-case basis. By law, a REC cannot pursue profit-making, the legal form (e.g. recognised association, cooperative) best suited to meeting public interest requirements, while ensuring long-term stability, should be chosen with a view to ensuring efficient administration.
