Municipality of Telese Terme and Menowatt Ge: success in the sphere of street lighting
SGR Efficienza Energetica and Menowatt Ge have come together to promote energy efficiency by creating a safer environment and better services for citizens. The energy efficiency project realised by Telese Terme and presented at Key Energy 2024
Telese Terme, an Italian municipality located about 30 km from Benevento at the foot of Mount Pugliano, is known for its sulphurous water springs that feed the local thermal baths and for its dolines, formed by the erosion of carbonate rocks. With a population of around 7,700, the municipality’s economy is mainly tourism-based. Thanks to funding from the Campania Region, the local administration will be able to save on electricity bills and light up new areas, thanks to the project developed in collaboration with Menowatt Ge, a company from the Marche region, part of the SGR Group and the consortium SGR Efficienza Energetica.
The project funded by the Campania region was completed in just 102 days.
Works to raise the energy efficiency of street lighting will be tested in January 2024. The Campania Region gave the project funding of approximately EUR 1.7 million, and work has been carried out under the leadership of local mayor Giovanni Caporaso. Measures taken include:replacement of all lights (about 3,000 in all), expansion of the network to places not previous reached, a point-to-point remote control system, the revamping of switchboards and replacement of lampposts.
The new LED lights are the result of collaboration with iGuzzini, and are endowed with smart UMPI remote control technology. These changes will help the Municipality toreduce its electricity bill by about 70% , with a saving of 395 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
